Puerto Rican Art Poster, Mirando

Too young and too short to get on the carnival ride during Las Fiestas Patronales, my nephew look on helplessly as the machine spins endlessly. “Mirando” explores the young boy’s powerlessness as he stares at the one thing that he so desperately wants to do but cannot. He is paralyzed by both wonder and disappointment. This is contrasted against the indifferent miradas (stares) of the carnival goers.
